The opus is a selection of remastered tracks and demos, compiled by Jay-Z and Troy Carter for Warner Bros. productions. Most of them come from the 1980s, a prolific decade for Prince, producing no less than nine albums and a long series of songs for Vanity 6, Apollonia 6 or Jill Jones. Produced in the form of demos at first, a large part of the songs composed by Prince saw very little retouching by the artists in their final version, proof if there was a need for the brilliant talent of the interpreter of Purple Rain.
